LRC Rules

DLA students are asked to obey the following rules in using the library and audio-visual center:
  1. Students are discouraged from bringing bags, lunch boxes, scissors, blade cutters and other bulky objects in the LRC. Only needed notebooks, learning packages, papers and writing materials may be brought in the LRC.
  2. Cutting and pasting of project requirements is not allowed in the LRC.
  3. The books and materials in the library and audio-visual center belong to the school. They are to be used and not abused. Any student checking books out of the LRC will be held responsible for taking care of them.
  4. The library cards are issued within the first two months of the school year. They are not transferable. Lost library cards should be reported immediately to the librarian. A duplicate library card will be issued upon payment of the processing fee.
  5. Students may check out one book at a time.
  6. Supplementary books may be kept for a period of one day. General Collection/Fiction books can be borrowed for two days. The book can be renewed one time unless there is a waiting list or a teacher will request that the book cannot be renewed. (Reference books, periodicals and CDs cannot be taken from the library.)
  7. Student are encouraged to return books and other materials on time. When returning materials, please come not later than 10 minutes before the LRC closes.
  8. All checkouts and returns of books and other materials are done at the Circulation section. Students may not check out a book unless they can present a DLA library card.
  9. Overdue notices will be sent to delinquent borrowers through the class advisers.
  10. Student should keep the books circulating to avoid overdue fines.
  11. Borrowers who fail to return a book on time shall be collected an overdue fine. Students are not charged for Saturdays and Sundays or school holidays. A fine of Php1.00 a day is charged for each day the book is late.
  12. A lost book while loan must be reported immediately to the circulation section to avoid accumulation of fines. A lost book must be settled a month after it has been reported lost.
  13. A lost or damaged book/material must be paid accordingly to the value determined or the amount equivalent to its current price replaced with the same or the latest edition plus the processing fee of Php20.00.
  14. Library materials damaged beyond the normal depreciation shall be subject to penalties as in lost item.
  15. Missing pages in any borrowed library materials must be reported immediately to the Circulation section.
  16. Students will be charged the current replacement cost of the lost or unrepaired items. If the item is out print and the value cannot be determined, a closely related title will be suggested by the librarian to replace the lost item.
  17. No borrower with an overdue book and with standing obligation to the LRC is allowed to borrow a book. Clearance will not be signed by the librarian and the report card may not be given until he/she settles LRC accounts.
  18. Students leaving the LRC shall be asked to prepare their things for inspection by the LRC staff.
  19. Violation of the rules of the LRC and audio-visual center shall not be an excuse on the plea of ignorance and shall be dealt with appropriate disciplinary action. Such cases include the following:
  • unnecessary noise that cause disturbance ;
  • drinking, eating, sleeping and littering ;
  • disrespect of LRC staff ;
  • LRC materials taken out without permission ;
  • failure to inform the library staff of the missing pages upon borrowing ;
  • mutilating and vandalizing LRC properties ;
  • lending one’s library card ;
  • plagiarism or lifting paragraphs from the books and claiming them as their own
