(DLA Las Piñas GS LRC) Film Showing of the Week - Maleficent

Do you believe in true love?

This is the question that the iconic Disney antagonist portrayed by the award-winning actress Angelina Jolie (Tomb Raider, Mr. & Mrs. Smith) needs to face in this action fantasy re-imagining a well-loved classic through the eyes of a fictional wicked and self-proclaimed fairy godmother.

Maleficent explores the complicated untold back story of the eponymous iconic villainess and the elements of her betrayal that ultimately turned her pure heart to stone. Driven by revenge and a fierce desire to protect, she cruelly places an irrevocable curse upon the human king's newborn infant princess.

Visually beautiful, the film is full of amazing performances and enchanting special effects just as it is brimming with important life lessons. We especially recommend watching it if you have seen and enjoyed the Broadway musical or read the Gregory Maguire novel WICKED about the witches of Oz way back before Dorothy dropped in.

Whether you already know her tale or not, come drop by on Friday and witness how our timeless antihero redeems herself in this spectacular animation which also features Angelina's youngest daughter Vivienne as small Princess Aurora on October 11 at 4:00 P.M. While you're at it, why not check out the Maleficent books we just recently acquired as well? Please approach any of the librarians or staff for any concerns. :)
