(DLA Las Piñas GS LRC) Film Showing of the Week - Aladdin

Did you and your friends enjoy watching Frozen? We sure hope so! This week is stil Disney week though as we throw a classic and probably the ultimate flashback Friday so far on September 19 with the musical fantasy Aladdin based on the Arabian folktale from One Thousand and One Nights, a famous collection of Asian stories.

This is also somewhat of a homage to one of the best singers around, Ms. Lea Salonga, since she is Princess Jasmine's singing voice and to the late American actor Robin Williams who unfortunately passed away last month in California since he voiced the comical and powerful blue Genie.

In case you have amazingly forgotten, the film follows the story of the poor underdog named Aladdin who woos the spunky Princess by pretending to be a prince and getting help from a Genie who grants him three wishes. However, Aladdin has to tell Princess Jasmine the truth about his identity and defeat the evil power-hungry royal advisor slash sorcerer Jafar before happily ever after happens.

Aladdin was the most successful film on the year that it was released and has won many awards, mostly for its soundtrack (who could forget the shining, shimmering, splendid world that Aladdin promised to show Jasmine in that pop ballad while they were riding his wonderful Magic Carpet through an endless diamond sky?).

If you're up for an absolutely thrilling and entertaining adventure not only with the Magic Carpet, come and join us again on Friday at 4:00 P.M. onwards. Will love actually conquer all in the end? For comments and suggestions, don't hesitate to approach any of the available librarians or staff. :)
